Beginning in January 2016, CityLinks will be featuring innovators working in the climate, water, and food security space. We are looking for organizations or individuals creating new and different tangible solutions that help solve problems in these sectors at the local level. The Featured Innovators Series consists of once-monthly features that will provide an in-depth look at selected innovators and showcase how what they do is critical to local government-led action.

In addition to the monthly feature, the top innovators will be invited to participate virtually or in person at the CityLinks’ Climate Smart Development Training in Bangkok, Thailand. Participants of this will include staff from ICMA, USAID, each of CityLinks’ partner and resource cities.

The CityLinks Program

CityLinks, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), is ICMA’s flagship international program that allows cities in developing and transitioning countries to draw on the resources of U.S. local governments to develop sustainable solutions tailored to the real needs of their communities. Through a variety of pilot projects, CityLinks works to improve climate-related governance and systems in targeted urban areas, increase resiliency of cities in Feed the Future focus countries, and improve water supply and sanitation access in urban communities in Global Health Initiative countries.

Exposure through CityLinks Featured Innovators Series

Innovators involved in the Series will receive direct exposure to ICMA members, USAID, and local governments from across the globe.

ICMA's 10,000+ members are the professional city, town, and county managers who are appointed by elected officials to oversee the day-to-day operation of our communities. The organization is an internationally recognized publisher of information resources ranging from textbooks and survey data to topical newsletters and e-publications. ICMA provides technical assistance to local governments in around the world, helping them to develop professional practices and ethical, transparent governments.

The Series will be showcased on both the CityLinks and ICMA websites and shared via newsletter and social media.

Submission Requirements

Please answer each of the following questions in 500 words or less:

• What do you do?
• What makes you unique?
• How can this be utilized at the local level?
• What are the results to date?

In addition to the questions above, please provide your website and a brief bio and contact information for the person(s) who will be interviewed by the CityLinks team for series.

Deadline

Submissions are due no later than Friday, December 4th to citylinks@icma.org. All submissions must be in English and received in PDF or Microsoft Word format.
