Chesterfield County has earned international recognition for the sixth consecutive year by placing 16th on Training magazine’s Top 125 for 2012, an annual ranking of organizations with employee-sponsored workforce training and development. Chesterfield County has risen in placement over the six years and has been ranked in the top 20 for the past three years at 12th in 2010, 19th in 2011 and 16th this year.

The Top 125 rankings are based on a myriad of benchmarking statistics such as training investment, number of training hours per employee, learning goals, course evaluation, learning measurement and workplace surveys, as well as a range of factors including the scope of development programs and how closely such development efforts are linked to business goals and objectives.  Each application is scored both quantitatively by an outside research and statistical data company and qualitatively by Training magazine editors and training professionals from the Top 10 Hall of Fame.  This year, the application included a stronger emphasis on learning metrics to validate the transfer of learning.

“Achieving this level of recognition amongst so many successful corporations validates the county’s commitment to employee learning and organizational development and demonstrates the strong link between a great community and efficient, dedicated public servants,” said Jay Stegmaier, county administrator.  “We are very pleased to have joined other Richmond area businesses on this list, such as Car Max and Capital One.”

Training magazine is a 48-year-old professional development magazine written for training, human resources, and business management professionals in all industries that advocate training and workforce development as a business tool.  Since their inception 12 years ago, the Training Top 125 annual awards have been bestowed upon companies that foster learning, development and relationships. The 2012 first-place recipient was Verizon.  Training is published by Lakewood Media Group.
