The senior vice president in each region coordinates strategies for each state in their region.  A checklist of suggested activies to get you started is provided below.

  • Conduct a conference call with other VPs/board members in your region to discuss work plans. Your ICMA Regional Director can provide assistance.
  • Conduct quarterly conference calls with state presidents and state staff for informational updates on both ICMA and state activities.
  • Use the ICMA Regional Conference to meet with state leaders and other key ICMA members to discuss recruitment opportunities. 2019 locations still to be determined.--
    • Southeast: March 6-8, 2019
    • West Coast: March 20-22, 2019
    • Mountain Plains: March 27-29, 2019
    • Northeast: April 3-5, 2019
    • Midwest: May 8-10, 2019
  • Consider whether you should invite nonmembers or state champions to share ideas. Once there are several member champions in the region, you could plan to conduct a meeting at the Regional Summit.  Bob would be glad to join the meeting, provide encouragement and express appreciation.
  • Review the ICMA calendar to idetnify other events taking place in your region.
  • Be prepared to report to the Board on your recruitment activity and progress.
