Assistant Chief Administrative Officer

Butte County is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and people-centered executive to serve as its next Assistant Chief Administrative Officer (ACAO). Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the ACAO is a key member of the executive leadership team and oversees the County Administration Department, including budget and policy analysis, emergency management, economic development, and Clerk of the Board functions. The position also serves as Emergency Operations Center Director during activations and acts on behalf of the CAO when needed.
The ideal candidate brings executive-level experience, strong fiscal and operational expertise, political acumen, and a leadership style characterized by integrity, accountability, and genuine care for people.
Salary: $182,332.80-$244,337.60, with approved 5% increases through 2028, plus excellent benefits.
