Randolph Township is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Township Manager. Randolph is a highly regarded Morris County community with a population of 26,504, a $50 million municipal budget, 129 full-time employees, and a land area of 21 square miles. The Township operates under the Council-Manager form of government pursuant to the Faulkner Act, with a seven-member governing body and the mayor selected from among its members.
Randolph is seeking only its sixth Township Manager in more than 50 years. The position will become vacant on October 30, 2026 due to the retirement of the current Manager, with the expectation of a reasonable transitional overlap period.
The governing body seeks an experienced, thoughtful, and highly capable local government leader who demonstrates exceptional verbal and written communication skills; a collaborative, responsive, and respectful management style; a proven record of successfully managing a broad range of municipal services; and the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of boards, committees, volunteers, residents, and stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will also possess strong leadership skills to sustain and enhance an organizational culture focused on professionalism, customer service, accountability, and continuous improvement. Applicants should be prepared to demonstrate advanced negotiating abilities, comfort using technology to improve communication and service delivery, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Residency within the Township is preferred but may be waived. The successful candidate should demonstrate a commitment to being actively engaged and accessible to the community and may be expected to relocate within a reasonable distance of Randolph Township within a mutually agreed upon period following appointment. The hiring range for the position is $210,000 to $235,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
