The Town of Oak Island, NC, is seeking an experienced, strategic-thinking, forward-looking Town Manager to provide organizational leadership for our southeastern coastal town. Working closely with the Mayor and Town Council, the Town Manager will help lead the Town in maintaining our family-friendly beach town that respects the established residential character, while embracing our robust tourist season. The next Town Manager will play a key role in further strengthening the Town’s finances and operations, guide infrastructure and capital priorities, and work with elected officials and staff to continue implementing a clear direction for the Town’s future. Success in this role will require strong communication skills, sound judgment and decision-making, a strong work ethic, and the ability to build trust while navigating complex issues.

Preserving the Town's character while welcoming new business and residents is important. The Town Manager will work with Council to ensure growing infrastructure needs can also be met.

The Town Manager will work with elected officials, staff, and community partners to manage responsible growth and implement the goals of the Town’s 2025 Comprehensive Land Use Plan, Strategic Plan, and Economic Development Plan, all set to move Oak Island towards its strategic future. This position offers a unique opportunity for a skilled public administrator who can bring the experience and perspective of a larger organization while embracing the values and relationships that define this close-knit coastal community – essentially, a “big city manager” who can thrive in a small-town environment.
