The Village of Hanover Park, IL (pop. 37,470). Located 30 miles northwest of Chicago, Hanover Park is a dynamic, multicultural municipality with small-town, friendly residential neighborhoods and a vibrant business community. Established in 1958 and located in both Cook and DuPage Counties, Hanover Park has a strong business community with more than 600 retail, commercial and manufacturing businesses. With major state east/west and north/south routes, close proximity to the interstate, and an in-town Metra commuter rail station, access to greater Chicagoland is easily achieved.
The Village Manager is the chief administrative officer responsible for day-to-day operations and oversees combined budgets of approximately $100 million. Hanover Park is in excellent financial condition with a AA bond rating and an FY 2026 unassigned fund balance of 70%. Since 1991, the Village has achieved the GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
The Village is a full-service municipality providing a range of services including police (CALEA accredited), fire/paramedic service, public works including utilities and engineering, community and economic development, finance, HR, and IT. The Village has a full-time staff of about 220 employees.
The Village is seeking a collaborative and transparent professional with strong communication skills and a desire to build on the Village’s many achievements. Following a respected 13-year incumbent who retired, the successful candidate will join a stable organization known for its teamwork and community engagement. The next Village Manager is expected to be involved in the community while bringing strong financial, analytical, and economic development expertise.
Ideal candidates will possess:
• A master’s degree in public administration, business administration or other advanced executive level training such as ICMA Credentialed Manager is preferred.
• Six – 10 years of increasingly responsible local government management experience as an administrator, assistant administrator or department head, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven leadership, managerial, and people skills to guide a dynamic organization with high customer-service expectations.
• Strong fiscal management skills and economic development experience.
• Excellent communication, diplomacy, and community engagement skills.
The Village Manager is appointed by and reports to the Village President and six-member Village Board of Trustees. The starting salary range is $230,000 - $265,000 + DOQ, plus a competitive benefit package. Residency is not required.
