SALARY: $185,000 to $225,000, depending on qualifications, plus a comprehensive benefits package,
including Borough-provided housing, vehicle, shop/garage, sauna, smokehouse, greenhouse, PERS,
and health, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance.
A starting salary above the posted range may be considered for an exceptionally qualified candidate.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: serving the communities of King Salmon, Naknek and South Naknek
$23.1 million FY26 all-funds budget. $2.2 million in funding for schools. 50 year-round employees and 40 seasonals.
Second-class Borough with Mayor and five-member Assembly.
Municipal services and functions include King Salmon and Naknek sewer systems; Naknek Port;
landfill; swimming pool; police, fire/rescue, and ambulance; library; vehicle registration (state DMV
contract); jail; roads; parks and recreation; cemeteries; information technology; finance; Clerk’s office;
and planning and zoning. Local Taxes: property tax 12.0 mills (2025), 3% Raw Fish Tax, 10% Bed Tax
School District: Bristol Bay Borough. Planning Commission: Yes
Assembly meets the 1st Monday of the month Regular Election: 1st Tuesday in October
World-class Alaska hunting, fishing and year-around recreation: people come by Learjets and Gulfstreams for the fishing.
Activities include cross-country skiing, winter hunting, hiking, and birdwatching.
Pop. ~880 (year around).
Summer with commercial fishing: ~10,000 in Bristol Bay.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- ability to work effectively with Mayor, Assembly & community stakeholders
- strong budget / fiscal management -- for $25 M or greater
- grant writing and grant management experience
- excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills with community and industry stakeholders
- management experience -- with increasing responsibility
- municipal experience or familiarity with AK municipal governance
- problem solving – complex and challenging
- public relations -- establishing working relationships
- Southwest Alaska knowledge / experience preferred
- supervisory experience / skills -- able to work independently and to oversee a small staff that tackles a wide variety of tasks
- strong writing and presentation skills for public, administrative, and policy documents
- construction experience
