The Town of Hanover is seeking an experienced, strategic, and collaborative financial leader to serve as Director of Administrative Services. The Director of Administrative Services directs the Town’s administrative services, including oversight of finance, budgeting, and accounting functions. This position plays a critical leadership role in ensuring sound financial management, regulatory compliance, and the effective delivery of Town services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Oversee the Town’s financial and accounting functions to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP, GASB standards, and applicable laws
• Coordinate and administer the development of the Town’s annual operating budget in collaboration with the Town Manager
• Provide financial information, analysis, and reporting to the Town Manager, elected officials, Town employees, and the public
• Make organizational and technology recommendations to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of Town services
• Recruit, train, assign, direct, supervise, and evaluate department employees; take corrective action as appropriate
• Staff and provide bookkeeping and administrative support for the elected Trustees of Trust Funds
• Ensure compliance with relevant federal and state laws, Town ordinances, and financial policies
• Perform related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of public finance, budgeting, accounting, and the investment of public funds
• Knowledge of public administration principles and practices
• Knowledge of government auditing procedures
• Knowledge of GAAP and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelines
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, Town ordinances, and departmental policies
• Skill in management and supervision
• Strong problem-solving, planning, and prioritization skills
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

Physical Demands and Work Environment
• Work is primarily performed in an office setting
• Requires sitting, standing, and occasional lifting of light objects
• Standard office environment with regular use of computers and office equipment
Minimum Qualifications
• Master’s degree in a field related to finance, accounting, public administration, or a closely related discipline
• A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience sufficient to understand and direct the diverse objectives and functions of a municipal finance department
• Ability to be bonded
Hours of Work:
35 hours a week/Exempt Position

Salary range $106,114.18 to $161,868.37; starting salary commensurate with qualifications. The Town offers a comprehensive benefits package.
