The City of Brooklet, GA is seeking qualified candidates for the position of City Manager.
Brooklet, Georgia, is a small town in Bulloch County with a rich history. Brooklet, GA operates under a Council – City Manager form of government. The City Council acts as a legislative body and is responsible for policy making and budget approval. The City Manager oversees day-to-day operations and administrative tasks.
The City Manager is responsible for the hiring and management of department heads, making sure there are procedures and policies in place for the efficient operation of local government. This person is deeply involved in the annual budget preparation and is responsible for helping communicate the city's financial condition to the elected officials. The City Manager should have experience and display competency in overseeing municipal finances.
The City Manager also represents the city in interactions with citizens, business owners, other government entities, and key outside stakeholders. The person in this role is a spokesperson for the city and is expected to be involved in the community.
The successful candidate needs to be a leader, be progressive minded in both management and leadership style, understand the importance of and be fully prepared to partner with the Council, key staff, and the community to move the city forward.
The ideal candidate must have:
Adept at determining and ordering priorities
Ability to delegate responsibilities to key staff
Positive attitude
Ability to interact with citizens, elected officials and other key stakeholders in the community
Experience in advising elected officials on complex and/or controversial issues
Excellent communication skills
Ability to decipher challenges and use good judgement in making complex decisions
Experience in managing growth and development
Knowledgeable in developing and managing the municipal budget to include the capital and utilities budget and the preparation of short- and long-term strategic plans
Resourceful problem solver
Understands the importance of transparency in government and the need to be involved with all segments of the community
Always embodies integrity and is focused on the city’s best interest
Salary
The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $95,000.
