This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified candidate to join the city of Yoncalla. We are a small (about 1100 population), but busy city. This position is responsible for the overall management of City departments, along with managing the city budget and utilities. This position combines the managerial duties of an administrator with the Recorders’ responsibility for records and official documents management with advanced administrative support to the Mayor and the Council. This is a great opportunity for someone (department head, assistant city manager or anyone with sufficient relevant government experience) to move-up into a city manager / administrator position.
Yoncalla sits in the beautiful Eagle Valley, between Roseburg and Eugene, Oregon. We are just over an hour from the ocean, a few minutes off of the I-5 freeway and close to amazing recreation opportunities in our mountains and rivers and ocean. We have a committed city council of 4, and an elected mayor who are all excited to work with the community to chart the course for the city's future.
Yoncalla is a small town of just over 1100 people. The city operates its own water and wastewater systems, and has a staff of 5. The city wants to start a strategic planning process as soon as practicable after our new administrator arrives. We have major capital and planning projects in place for all of our utility systems as a result of as host of successful grant applications. The city has significant capital reserves for projects, and has a great track record in obtaining grants. Over the past 6 months, the city has made the tough decisions necessary to address public safety and near-term financial issues. This is a great opportunity to start with a relatively clean slate and make your mark.
We do not require our city manager to live inside city limits. We have a generous benefits package including Oregon PERS.
