The Town of Winterport, Maine, a picturesque and vibrant community on Winterport, is seeking a highly skilled Town Manager. This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a dedicated team and shape the future of a town renowned for its stunning natural beauty along the Penobscot river.
About Winterport:
Winterport has approximately 3,800 year-round residents, offering a diverse and engaging environment. Our community values its natural resources, rich history, and strong sense of community. With a municipal budget of approximately $7 million and a staff of approximately 7 full-time dedicated employees and 12-15 volunteer fire employees. The Town provides a full range of services including public works, fire, planning, code enforcement, and administration.
The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for a visionary and collaborative leader with a proven track record in municipal management or equivalent experience. The successful candidate will be:
• A Strategic Thinker: Capable of developing and implementing long-term plans that align with the town's vision and values.
• A Strong Communicator: Able to effectively engage with the Council, staff, residents, and various stakeholders.
• An Experienced Administrator: Proficient in municipal finance, budgeting, human resources, and operations.
• A Collaborative Leader: Fosters a positive work environment and builds consensus among diverse groups.
• Community-Oriented: Passionate about serving the needs of the community and enhancing the quality of life for all residents.
• Knowledgeable of Maine Law: Familiarity with Maine municipal law and regulations is highly desirable.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field, those with equivalent life experience will also be considered.
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in management, preferably in municipal government, but those with other experience are urged to apply.
• Demonstrated experience with budget development and financial oversight.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Compensation and Benefits:
The Town of Winterport offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience and a comprehensive benefits package with a salary range of $90 to 110k
