County of Belknap, NH
Belknap County, NH (approx. 65,000 population) is seeking an experienced, proactive and creative visionary management professional with strengths in Finance and HR and a commitment to excellence to serve as its’ next County Administrator. The ideal candidate will work with a highly engaged Commission and members of the Belknap County General Court to support and nurture the operations of the County. Encompassing about 470 square miles in the central portion of the State, Belknap County sits entirely within the Lakes Region of New Hampshire.
Belknap County provides year-round recreational and cultural draws and is conveniently accessed by Interstate 93 and NH Rtes. 3 & 11. Boston, the NH Seacoast and the White Mountains are all easily reachable in less than 90 minutes. Concord, the State capital, and Manchester, the State’s largest city, are each less than a one-hour drive. The region is served by Manchester-Boston Regional Airport and Boston Logan International Airport Belknap County has approximately 150 full-time employees, most represented by unions, and 75 part-time employees. The County Administrator oversees an operating budget of approximately $38 million. Union employees fall under Corrections, Sheriff’s Department, Nursing Home and Support Staff. There are eight (8) direct reports to the County Administrator including the Finance Director, Nursing Home Administrator, Corrections Superintendent, HR Coordinator, Facilities Manager, IT Coordinator, Restorative Justice Director and Administrative Assistant. The County Administrator also works closely with the elected positions of Sheriff, County Attorney and Register of Deeds.
Currently, the County Administrator also fills the position of Human Resources Director. It is expected that the next Administrator will have experience in this field and continue in this role. The Commissioners have pledged financial support to the next Administrator in obtaining additional Human Resources education.
A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required. A master’s degree and seven (7) years of relevant progressively responsible management experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Salary range to $175,000; starting salary commensurate with qualifications. An excellent benefits package is also available. Belknap County is an equal opportunity employer.
