THE POSITION
The City of Fresno has an exceptional career opportunity available for experienced professional engineers who will plan, organize, and manage the activities of an engineering work unit; coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, departments, and outside agencies; and provide highly responsible and complex staff assistance to a Director and/or Assistant Director.

On vacancy currently exists in the Department of Public Utilities, however, positions are also utilized in the Construction Management Department, the Permit and Planning Department and the Public Utilities Department.
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT: This vacancy is located in the Planning and Engineering Division and will provide necessary oversight and supervision of technical services staff, in the engineering work of capital projects, water system planning, permitting, design, and construction of tank projects, raw water pipeline, additional recharge, water banking facilities, new pump station, pipeline installations, reclaimed water system for landscape irrigation, and existing surface water treatment plant expansion.
Immediate and future vacancies will be filled from this eligible list for a period of three (3) months from the date the eligible list is created, with the option of extending that period for up to a maximum of two years at the City's discretion. If the examination process is suspended for this recruitment, the eligible list may be limited to three (3) months.
THE REQUIREMENTS
Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, construction, public administration, or a closely related field.
Experience: Four (4) years of experience equivalent to a Licensed Professional Engineer. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of two (2) years.
Special Requirements:
Valid registration as a Professional Engineer by the State of California at time of application.
Possession and continued maintenance of a valid California Driver’s License may be required at time of appointment.
