
Controller-Treasurer Division Manager

Are you a strategic finance leader ready to make a meaningful impact? The County of Santa Clara is seeking a Controller-Treasurer Division Manager to oversee key accounting functions within one of California’s most innovative and complex public finance departments. This executive-level role plays a vital part in safeguarding financial integrity, supporting essential public services, and driving operational excellence across the County.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in governmental accounting, a collaborative leadership style, and a commitment to developing teams and advancing process improvements. You’ll work directly with executive leadership, manage multiple high-performing units, and serve as a trusted advisor to departments, local agencies, and elected officials.
Required Background and Experience:
A qualified candidate would typically possess education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in business or public administration or a related field and a minimum of five (5) years of recent increasingly responsible professional experience in accounting or auditing, including one (1) year of experience managing and/or supervising an accounting or auditing function. A master's degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting may be substituted for approximately one (1) year of professional accounting/auditing experience. Government accounting experience and the possession of a CPA certificate is highly desirable.
