Finance Director Job Posting – Village of Dundee, Michigan
The Village of Dundee, Michigan, is seeking a service-driven, strategic, and collaborative finance professional to serve as its next Finance Director. Located at the crossroads of M-50 and U.S. Route 23, Dundee is a growing and vibrant community known for its small-town spirit, historic downtown, and strong regional accessibility.
The Finance Director is a key member of the leadership team and serves as the Village’s chief financial officer. Reporting to the Village Manager, this individual will oversee all aspects of municipal finance, including accounting, budgeting, auditing, long-term financial planning, and internal controls. With Dundee poised for continued growth and investment, the new Finance Director will play a pivotal role in modernizing operations, supporting organizational development, and ensuring strategic alignment of financial practices with community priorities.
This is an opportunity to shape a growing community’s financial future, support a new Village Manager, and lead initiatives that will strengthen transparency, stability, and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct and oversee financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, tax and utility billing, and payroll.
Manage audits, debt, and the Village’s long-term financial planning.
Provide financial guidance to the Downtown Development Authority and other components.
Lead modernization of financial systems and internal controls.
Support strategic planning and interdepartmental collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree is required, and advanced certifications such as CMT, CPFO, or CGFM are preferred. At least five years of progressively responsible finance or accounting experience are also required, with municipal or public sector experience strongly preferred.
Salary Range: $102,000–$115,000 DOQ with full benefits.
