The Clerk serves as the principal steward of city governance for the City of Newton, ensuring the effective management of elections, city council support, public records, and citizen engagement. The Clerk is expected, during the next chapter of this vital role’s history, to fully embrace and implement its mission to enhance transparency, communication, and accountability in all aspects of city governance under their control. This includes maintaining accessibility and ease of access to public records and ensuring the highest standards in elections administration and city council operations while staying up to date on best practices and emerging technologies.
