Located in northwest Missouri, the City of Maryville has evolved from a nineteenth century farming community to a regional center for education, health care, recreation, and business. The city has a population of 10,633 and a Customized Trade Area of 55,296. The community is home to Northwest Missouri State University, Kawasaki Motors Manufacturing Corp., Nucor LMP Steel Inc., Federal-Mogul Corporation, Mosaic Medical Center of Maryville, as well as many other businesses and organizations. The City of Maryville is a council-manager form of government with its own police and fire departments as well as utility services (water and sanitary sewer). The City’s Park system includes ten (10) local parks and the award winning Mozingo Lake Recreation Park, a 3,000-acre city-owned and operated regional tourism and recreation destination.
Under the supervision of the City Manager and City Council, the Finance Director is an exempt position that performs responsible accounting, finance, and managerial duties for the entire City operations. This professional position will plan, direct, manage and oversee the financial operation and reporting of all city funds, including budget, audit, cash management, debt management, utility rate structure, and compliance with applicable laws and accounting standards. The position participates in the formulation and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities of the administration to provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the City Manager and elected officials.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in municipal finance, with a deep understanding of GAAP (General Accepted Accounting Principles) and the ability to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. The Finance Director will be an essential partner in driving the City's financial strategy and ensuring long-term fiscal sustainability.
