Sutton, MA (9,436 pop.), is seeking an experienced municipal leader who is adept at managing personnel and building relationships, experienced in problem solving and succession planning, and is proficient in municipal financial management, budgeting, and long-term planning, to serve as Town Manager. The next Town Manager must be a skilled communicator with a practical, common-sense approach. Sutton is charming and historic community located in the Blackstone Valley, minutes from Worcester and the Mass. Pike and just 45 miles from Boston. Sutton has an AA+ rating and FY25 budget of nearly $42.28M. Sutton has a Select Board-Town Manager form of government with open Town Meeting. Preferred candidates will have a master’s degree (bachelor’s degree required), preferably in public administration or a related field and experience as a Town Manager/Administrator or Assistant Town Manager/Administrator. Preferred candidates must be good listeners; empathetic, future thinking; problem solvers who are willing to make difficult decisions; and be eager to engage and interact with the community. Candidates should be willing and able to works cooperatively with boards, committees, residents, and other stakeholders.
