The Athens-Clarke County, Georgia, Unified Government (ACCGov) is seeking candidates for the position of People & Belonging Director. The People & Belonging Director, under the supervision and direction of the City Manager oversees the People & Belonging Department. Essential duties for this position include, but are not limited to:
Strategic Leadership and Community Awareness - supporting the Mayor & Commission goals for advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the ACCGov workplace and the Athens-Clarke County Community;
Policy Development and Legal Compliance - to include ensuring compliance with relevant federal, state and local laws, departmental analysis and reporting and review of local ordinances and policies;
Community Engagement and Inclusion Initiatives - coordinate, support, and/or participate in IDE-aligned community events such as the Athens Civil Rights Tour, Pride Month, Juneteenth, the Hot Corner Festival, Latinx
Fest, and other similar events;
Administrative Oversight - supervise and evaluate assigned staff, develop and administer budget responsibilities;
Grants and Special Projects - provide guidance, direction, and coordination for community initiatives.
