The Town of Easton, MD is recruiting for a Town Manager. The Town Manager is responsible for supporting the Mayor to run the day-to-day operations of the Town government, the supervision of the Town’s employees (except those directly reporting to the Mayor) and aiding the Mayor to implement the governing body’s policies.
The Town of Easton is the County Seat for Talbot County and is located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, approximately 60 miles from Baltimore and within two hours of Philadelphia and Washington D.C. The Town has well-established retail and industry, a historic and vibrant downtown and offers its residents a superior quality of life. Easton is a safe, energetic and involved community with an established sense of place.
The Town Manager works with the Mayor to implement her policies and help run the daily operations of the Town. The Town operates under the Strong Mayor form of government. The Mayor and Council President are elected Town-wide, and a four-member Town Council is elected from geographic districts. The Easton Town Council is the legislative body of the Town and approves ordinances, consents to Mayoral appointments, adopts resolutions and other local legislation.
The Town Manager is supported by nearly 150 full and part-time employees. In addition to traditional government services, the Town, through Easton Utilities, provides, water, sewer, electric, internet and gas service. The Town has a robust volunteer Fire Department. The Town also provides sanitation services.
The Town of Easton operates on a July 1 - June 30 fiscal year. The approved General Fund budget for FY 2025 is $28,134,079.
The position requires the successful candidate to meet the following qualifications:
• The Town Manager shall have, prior to appointment, a master's degree in business or public administration from an accredited college or university or at least five years' experience as an executive or administrator either in public administration or private business or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Knowledge and significant experience in municipal operations, services, and finance,
including, without limitation, budget development and implementation
• Knowledge and experience in developing municipal infrastructure, managing technical
projects and personnel as well as communicating complex information to a diverse
audience of consultants, Town staff, elected officials, citizens and business owners
The hiring range for this position is from $175,000 - $195,000.
