Founded in 1859, the City of Junction City, Kansas is a community rich in military history and pride. The city of 22,300 people is linked geographically and patriotically with 15,000 U.S. soldiers, and their families, stationed at the Fort Riley Army base. Junction City and Geary County stand alone with regard to areas of similar size in Kansas. The City Manager is responsible to the City Commission for maintaining and operating the City in a professional manner and administration of all City affairs. This position manages and directs the day-to-day operations of the City based on the ordinances and policies established by the City Commission. The City Manager oversees operation of the City’s departments, including Administration, Building & Codes, Legal, Fire, Human Resources, Information Technology, Municipal Court, Planning & Zoning, Police, Public Works, and Water & Wastewater. This position is responsible for a total budget of $141.9M.

This position also works closely with community members, local school members, Fort Riley officials, and is highly visible at community events.
