Located in southeastern Oakland County, Bloomfield Hills is an affluent suburban community with beautifully landscaped residential properties nestled in quiet neighborhoods. The new public safety director will oversee a department which is well respected and has strong city commission and community support.
Bloomfield Hills is a financially stable, home rule, council/manager city of 4,400 residents living within five square miles. Its 2024-25 general fund budget is $13.2 million with a public safety budget of $7.1 million and a $4.7 million unrestricted fund balance.
This position functions as an integral part of a small, close-knit and supportive administrative team led by the city manager. Public safety operations are highly visible in the community and include 24-hour police, fire, medical first responder, and dispatch services.
The city is seeking experienced police/fire administrators who will function well in a low crime community where residents “love” their city and are accustomed to a high level of service.
Bloomfield Hills has a desirable work environment and will provide a comprehensive benefit package with an annual starting salary of $123,000.
