The City is currently seeking candidates for the role of City Auditor which is an appointed employee of the City Council (Council) responsible for functioning as an objective evaluator on the effectiveness of municipal activities, operations, and programs. Under the supervision of the Council, they provide audit-related services for the benefit of the Council as well as the City Manager and senior management. Their work administers a variety of services intended to affirm existing internal control systems and/or identify operational or internal control weaknesses, if any, for correction, implementation, or improvement by management.

The ideal candidate is someone comfortable interacting with an engaged public in a highly visible environment and has progressively more responsible experience in governmental or internal auditing with a strong commitment to action when dealing with pressure and ambiguity of complex issues and situations. The City Auditor must have a bachelor's degree with major coursework in accounting, finance, business, public administration, or other related field and must have or be able to obtain a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor Certification within twelve months of hire. Previous supervision experience is preferred.

The City of Olathe offers competitive pay and exceptional benefits, including a free onsite health center that offers free medical and behavioral health services for employees participating in the City's medical plan. Our paid time off is generous and includes paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, and eight weeks of paid parental leave. Starting pay is $125,000 to $165,000 based on qualifications.
