Under executive direction of the City Manager, performs highly responsible administrative and technical police work in the direction of all employees and the activities of the Police Department. Work involves responsible and efficient operation of the Police Department through control of its activities in preventing crime, protecting lives and property, and maintaining or restoring order. The employee must work with considerable independence in carrying out police functions.
