The Biden/Harris Administration, 117th Congress, and Prospects for Aid to Cities & Counties

Transitions between presidential administrations and changing congresses present both opportunities and challenges for local governments. On the campaign trail, the candidates share the framework of new ideas that can either help or harm how cities and counties operate and make progress. Furthermore, the existing federal funding programs that communities depend on may be ripe for budget boosts or vulnerable for elimination.

On Friday, January 15, join Sustainable Strategies DC and ICMA for a discussion of what the transition to a Biden/Harris Administration will look like from a local government lens. This webinar will provide city, town and county officials the lay of the land as far as presidential priorities, new federal agency leadership, potential policy shifts, and opportunities for local/federal collaboration. The webinar, following the Georgia runoff and determination of Senate control in DC, will also share how the 117th Congress will be organized, including its legislative focus, committee chairs, and potential for major action impacting localities (e.g., economic recovery, infrastructure bill, climate change and resilience, appropriations).

This webinar will be informational and non-partisan, and will help local government leaders understand the coming changes in Washington, DC.
