Within Yuma County there were 30 different government radio systems, and this fragmentation prevented inter-agency communications and adequate radio coverage. The City of Yuma solved this problem with an intergovernmental agreement with Yuma County, surrounding local governments, and the Arizona Department of Public Safety, and together they created a regional radio communication system.
