As society is beginning to call for gender balance across all industries, the City of San Antonio has implemented a program to offer women the ability to identify and develop their leadership skills through mentoring. The program which pairs professional-level women with female city executives while boasting a number of enriching components has proven successful with nearly 15% of participants competing for a promotion during or after the program. This program is the winning submission for the 2016 Local Government Excellence Awards in the category of Strategic Leadership & Governance (populations of 50,000 and greater).
