Alamogordo, New Mexico, was nominated to the 2005 ICMA Annual Awards Program for its efforts to ensure responsible water stewardship. This narrative describes the need and resulting measures, including a new water conservation ordinance; a reclaimed water system; covers for water reservoirs; education; and long-term planning. Provides insight on lessons learned.
