A manager can't do it all, nor should he or she try. A manager who delegates successfully will likely have a more productive organization and a less stressful life than one who does not. Effective delegation provides assistants with professional development and growth opportunities, and gives the manager more time to spend on top priorities and long-range visioning, as well as increased peace of mind during his or her time away from work. This presentation centers on the benefits of and strategies for letting go. Offers practical suggestions on the art of delegation in areas such as task assignments, personnel/supervisory responsibilities, and relationships with elected officials. Also attached is a session handout, "The Art of Letting Go," by Gerard M. Blair.
