This policy, published by the United States Agency for International Development, provides guidelines for global developing communities seeking to improve service delivery in urban areas. Urban areas will gain about 1.4 billion people between 2011 and 2030 and almost every country in Africa, Asia, and Latin America will be affected. These recommendations are intended to ameliorate the effects associated with urbanization such as the lack of clean water available, the abundance of chronically malnourished children, and the increased exposure to natural disasters.
