In this study, the authors provide an alternative to the method currently used to provide site-specific information for superfund sites listed on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) National Priority List (NPL). The alternative is similar to a report card. The authors also give a general introduction of the various issues encountered in the NPL updates. Institutional controls (ICs), land use controls (LUCs), and post-construction activities are discussed about mid-way through the document. In the authors' discussion of ICs, they include the following information: if the control is a part of the remedy at the site; how the remedy has been implemented; who is responsible for the control's implementation and monitoring; and the date of the last and the next five-year review. At the end of the document, a mockup of the proposed "NPL Site Report Card" and the "NPL Site Scorecard," can be found. Some of the authors' recommendations haved been adopted in a new EPA CERCLIS search query tool found at: http://cfpub1.epa.gov/supercpad/cursites/srchsites.cfm
