The Project Independence Senior Taxi Transportation Program was established in October 2009 to serve the older residents of the Town of North Hempstead who face mobility challenges to accessing critical services. It is an important component of the Town’s aging in place continuum of services. It is designed to support and assist residents of the Town who are age 60 or older remain in their own homes and familiar, intergenerational communities with maximum self-sufficiency for as long as possible.
