The Park Seven Apartment complex is a Housing and Urban Development (HUD) property, and the apartments had high levels of violent and drug related crimes, including one murder. To solve these problems, the Olathe Police Department created a partnership between HUD, City Police, Park Seven Management, Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, the Johnson County District Attorney, and the US DEA. The partnership arrested violators, reduced crime service calls, and assured the complex’s tenants that something was being done to stop the illegal activity.
