Recently, the National League of Cities just issued a report "Big Ideas for Small Business" regarding government initiatives to promote small businesses and entrepreneurship. That report builds on work that was done in Chicago by Mayor Rahm Emanuel. In response to that document, the author draws upon personal experience to highlight additional areas where governments should change policies and practices to help entrepreneurs and small business owners, while saving money themselves through more efficient operations.
