The Palm Beach County, Florida (1,131,000), public library has a Web site that connects the county’s 127,000 Spanish-speaking residents with information on a broad range of government services. The Spanish-language Web site, Información Gubernamental, provides links to the Spanish-language Web sites of local government agencies, such as the school district; state agencies, such as the motor vehicles department; and federal agencies, such as the U.S. Small Business Administration. Library staff spent approximately eight hours searching for appropriate Spanish-language Web sites and assembling links. Maintenance of the site, which consists primarily of searching for new sites, takes approximately one hour per week. The library promotes the site through an index that is available in the library’s Spanish collections, as well as at county administrative offices. Robert I.
