This session, cosponsored by The Innovation Groups, focused on the top ten areas of change that local governments are currently facing and on strategies to address the change, create capacity, and strengthen community. Attendeees were challenged to understand the responsibilities that organizations have; determine what matters and engage in conversation; invest in training, development, and technology; engage employees (they have the best ideas); look for partners (e.g., schools, communities, hospitals); shed the businesses that we don't do well; find and reward STARS (they always carry more than their load); reform the systems (e.g., procurement, finance); and stress performance and accountability.
