This fact sheet addresses the use of institutional controls (ICs) and use control areas as potential components of the voluntary cleanup process within Wyoming's voluntary remediation program (VRP). The fact sheet describes different types of ICs and the types of remedies that typically trigger the need for controls. The fact sheet also addresses a number of other issues including the differences between ICs and engineering controls (ECs) and the process for selecting ICs and ECs.
