In partnership with the CDC and Emory University School of Medicine, Sandy Springs, GA made it a priority to educate local residents about important life saving procedures as well as improve the quality of care received by cardiac arrest patients. Their Heat Safe project has helped place an additional 156 AED machines throughout the city. In addition the program has trained 4,800 residents in CPR and how to use the AED’s. The city also adopted a new treatment which uses cooling methods to help preserve the brain function of cardiac arrest patients before they even reach the hospital.
