Arlington County, Virginia was ranked in 2011 by The Associated Press as one of the five least stressed counties in the nation. The fact that Arlington has fared so well through the recent economic downturn is not a new phenomenon – during the two previous national recessions Arlington either bounced back faster or actually gained jobs. Arlingotn's consistently strong economic position is a community asset and, in order to nurture and preserve it, this paper examines the components of our success and looks at what kind of strategy will continue the momentum.
