The UN General Assembly announced that 2012 was the "International Year of Sustainable Energy for All," and vowed to accomplish three global objectives by 2030: ensuring universal access to modern energy services, doubling the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency, and doubling the share of renewable energy. The Global Tracking Framework provides a system for monitoring the progress towards each of these goals.
