In 2005 the City of Aurora created the Environment Aurora program that promotes sustainability by improving resource conservation and educating city staff and residents about their affect on the environment. The Environment Aurora program included e-waste recycling events, single stream recycling, light retrofitting, cooking oil recycling, and more efficient fuel purchases.
