This document has been created by NACo as a guide for counties looking to save energy by leveraging one of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) most forward-thinking and market-driven programs, ENERGY STAR. This FREE tool to helps counties improve energy efficiency in their facilities, local businesses, and residences around the country. Through partnership with the EPA and the ENERGY STAR, NACo released this program in 2011 to help county leadership understand energy efficiency, save taxpayer dollars and protect the environment.
