The City of Surrey engaged in planning for energy conservation and greenhouse gas reductions.  The Energy Shift plan was based around a combination of community and government initiatives.  The first project was the City Centre Library, which is a LEED Silver building.  Surrey also plans to deploy environmental technologies into new buildings and facilities, as well as into corporate infrastructure around the city.  The City will attempt several Green vehicles in its fleet, including energy-efficient fleet cars and a natural gas waste collection truck.
