When the community of East Grand Rapids outgrew the city library, city offices, and recreation facilities, city staff and community members decided to build a new community center. The City formed a Concept Team, made up of members from the schools, community organizations, the library, the Parks and Recreation Commission, to determine facility needs and to develop an overall vision for the center.
