When Denmark merged its 271 municipalities into just 98, governments found themselves scrambling to deliver services to vastly expanded citizenships. The municipality of Guldborgsund dealt with many of its responsibilities by building video conference kiosks in three of its municipal buildings. These kiosks allowed both automatic services for citizens as well as direct communication to a staffed hub where staff were poised to help citizens. At these kiosks, citizens are able to receive and update licenses and passports an communicate with city representatives to answer questions.
The kiosks have resulted in savings upwards of 210,000 USD.
