This article reviews the CitySmart program and it was started by a number of Texas municipalities wanting to reduce their energy costs while improving efficient energy usage. CitySmart uses five components to ensure energy efficiency: 1) benchmarking current facility performance; 2) helping governments develop an Energy Efficiency Master Plan; 3) finding cost-effective projects; 4) providing financial incentives for energy efficient investments; and 5) informing the community about their local government’s energy saving efforts.
