The City of Little Rock implemented a Neighborhood Alert Center system after a murder in 1991. Through community demand and the help of a half cent sales tax and a HUD grant, there are now 15 Neighborhood Alert Centers, and from 1996 to 2007 these centers have helped reduce violent and property crimes.
