Using Daniel Pink’s concept of story, the City of Decatur’s Budget Narrative uses the power of story, providing residents with a budget that is more than just numbers. Allows each department to tell their story by giving the department’s background, listing the organizations goals, and how they have utilized budget funds. The narratives include the following departments: the City Manager’s Office, Community and Economic Development, Sustainability, Public Works, Engineering, Police, Fire Department, Children and Youth Service, and Budgeting and Finance.
