This document explains the Town of Clarkdale’s decision to enact a program that targets different levels of sustainability. This plan was created to focus on economic, social and environmental sustainability; economic being one of the most important due to the realization that the community was overdrafting its groundwater supply. Through detailed planning and gradual cutbacks the town was able to make their goal a reality. This program is the winning submission for the 2016 Local Government Excellence Awards in the category of Community Sustainability (populations of less than 10,000).
